Hello you.
How is your spring going? If you live in Vancouver, then I already know your answer to this. But for those who don’t, Vancouver got stuck in Winter for the past few days. I am sure that there is a lot of sun coming our way, right Vancouver?…
Thanks to this weather and some foreign germs, I have this fantastic flu that allowed me to stay home for a couple of days. I also found that having no tv and a very small netbook doesn’t really help to pass the time, so, I looked for stuff to do around the house and I found my old toy, which now will be, my new toy.
The toy is this amazing camera that belonged to my grandpa, how cool! This camera is from 1957, yeah that’s right 1-9-5-7. My mother found it in some box in our storage room and gave it to me. It was super dirty, oily and sticky(sounds familiar?) So today I spent some time cleaning it and making it pretty again. The best part is that when I opened the camera, it still had a film spool from my grandpa in it! this spool is more than 50 years old. Holy cow.
This camera is supposed to take pictures like these ones (I didn’t take these, I found them on vintage camera blogs, so please, don’t sue me, thank you) :
Aren’t they cool? AND the best part is that this camera is super simple, what you see is pretty much what you get and I really like the old school feel of looking through the glass from above and trying to find your subject, like this:
I can’t wait to get a little bit of sun so I can go out and start shooting… oh wait.. I need the film, which you can’t find in stores anymore, Ebay, here I come…. ok I think my 5 minutes of energy are gone and the flu has kicked in again.
I will leave you with pictures of this handsome camera of mine and also with this link of a new song by Dido which I want to play at my 1st Summer dinner with friends at home. By the time you listen to this I will probably be having crazy dreams, Donnie Darko Style, thanks Benadryl pills!
Cheers!
