Martial arts aren’t just for Hollywood movies – as proved by Martin Klimas in his porcelain figurine series – martial arts are also for galleries.
Martin captures all of the kung-fu infused action as asian figurines hit the ground exploding into a bazillion pieces – his camera captures the exact frame when these crouching tiger, hidden dragon-inspired characters give their best punch. I love how this effect makes them look as if they were beating each other so hard that they just blow up – oh and let’s not forget about the great kitschy factor in each of these figurines, you can even see the “Made in China” label on the image below! Art comes with a full range of price tags, right?
Martin Klimas gives a total kick in the nuts to creativity with his work. What about you? Are you into martial arts? (I was, until I got my ass kicked when I was 10 in Tae Kown Do class – never put a 130 lb kid <who probably eats babies for breakfast> to fight with a bendy twig <yep, that would be me>).

there’s something about the movement and violence in these photos that juxtaposes the idea of ceramic figurines – fixed statues – that i’m not qualified to describe haha. original and fantastic though.
