And here we have yet another insanely realistic series of oil paintings. Is it me, or is hyperrealistic art on the rise? Either way, it’s awesome and I hope it continues to gain strength. Today’s feature is nothing but a truck load full of awe, all thanks to the work of Alyssa Monks, a New Jersey artist that has made shower time a whole lot more glamorous.
Wouldn’t you kill to see them up close?! I can only imagine the details and texture from the oil paint. One thing I love to do when I visit galleries is to get as close as I can to a painting (close enough that the alarm might go off) and just stare at each stroke and think “why did he go this way…or that way..what’s that? A hair?”. Could spend HOURS doing that.
As you can tell it can be quite boring going to a museum with me – if we ever do, bring comfy shoes, ’cause we’ll be there for a while.

Alyssa’s work is so stunning! I’ve been following her forever and every time I see new work I think, oooo I need to write about her! But shamefully, it still hasn’t happened. Soon! Thank you for the reminder. ;-)
Oh and I do the same thing at galleries/museums! Just this weekend I saw these incredible photographs I thought from afar were collaged, but then I got up close and realized they were *woven*. Mind blown.
