Oh goodness gracious, it’s been a while since I’ve featured some embroidered art. It seems there was a crazy wave of it and all of the sudden went quiet. To break the silence of the threads, I bring you the work of Melissa Zexter, a Rhode Island photographer that packs some serious stitching skills.
Her exploration of femininity goes beyond the portrait, adding lots of depth and details with colourful embroidered patterns and textures. I know a bunch of you (including myself) are a fan of this kind of work, so you should definitely visit her site to get a taster of her talent.
A couple years ago I tried to get into stitching photographs, and bajeesuz, I poked my fingers with the needle to many times that it looks like I had red polka dots all over my hands (a.k.a dry blood). So, let’s leave it to the pros to amaze us with their creations, yah?

gah! love!
Whenever I try embroidery in paper I generally end up ripping the paper, which leads to frustration and sometimes screaming. Which I guess is a little better than bloody fingers…
Gabriel says
haha totally, and also leads to stabbing the paper!
