FEBRUARY: all about pampering others with treats, but why not treating yourself instead? This month’s theme is SELF LOVE join us in this first editorial featuring local self care love products.
With pure intentions and clean burning love, Woodlot believes that beauty should intentional and inclusive. All this love has helped them land in many stores in Vancouver (and across the land). Here at the studio we are total fans of their candles and soaps and I’m sure many of you are as well (or will be after trying out their product)
Our favourite candle right now is Cinder, which is spicy, warming, and cozy, perfect to start a morning ritual of self love or to end the day taking some time to relax and decompress.
The candle is non-gmo soy and organic coconut wax for cleaner burning, and let me tell ya the burn for long, thought, a few minutes is all you need to get the cozy scent into the room.
RITUAL: light up a candle, turn off your phone, read a book, mix in some breathing exercises. Do this once a day for the month of February and see how you feel.
Once you have the room and lighting covered, meaning, get yourself a candle, and get cozy in the couch, it’s time to give some love to your skin.
Cue Harlow skin care, also a beauty brand from Vancouver. Harlow believes in creating potions that are uncomplicated and unique, even minimal, using whole, natural ingredients. Just like with Woodlot, Harlow has a inclusive approach to beauty and love.
For this editorial we want to feature their skincare for face and body. First off their body balm, which is rich, creamy, and hydrating (perfect for winter skin), smells amazing, and leaves your skin feeling smooth for a while.
Next is their face elixir and floral toner, both are part of a healthy skin care routine. The elixir is extremely hydrating and nourishing, and the floral toner helps add a touch of freshness and glow to your skin.
There’s also their cleansing and exfoliating clay mask, which will rejuvenate any dull winter skin. The mask can be used with water or honey (my fave).
RITUAL: try some dry brushing (see video here) which is amazing for an instant glow, add the clay mask, rinse, follow with some face elixir and toner, make a drink and sit down and chill for a while. Do it once a week, more if you have time.
What about rinsing all the gunk leftover from winter? You need to up your shower game and for that we chose Woodlot’s soaps, the ultimate in simplistic purity. Each bar is made in small batches cured for about 6 weeks.
The base is a blend of olive oil, avocado, coconut oil, and shea butter. Ultra lush and moisturizing bar that is the perfect little (and not expensive) addition to your shower routine.
Our favourite one is Recharge and Amour, both can be found here, both of these guys have a lovely smell and make you feel like you’re in a spa.
RITUAL: light some incense in your bathroom, add some candle light, turn on the hot water in your shower and let it steam for a minute, adjust the temp and get in, lather, take deep breaths and take your time.
All of these beauties together will help you get back into making time for yourself, we are all about self love this month and we think you should skip buying roses and chocolate for everyone and just get some goodies for you, ’cause let’s be honest, after this harsh winter, we all need some extra pampering.
Thank you to Woodlot and Harlow for providing products for us to make this editorial, this is not a sponsored post, we just love their stuff!
